Columbia River King Salmon

There are three major Summer Holidays that typically bring seafood to the center of the table: Memorial Day, 4th of July, and Labor Day. Labor Day falls on September 7th this year so we’re gearing up for the Holiday this week.

This year, Northern Fish Products is featuring King Salmon off of the lower Columbia River. The run this year is expected to be abundant. Kings are the best for grilling because they have the highest oil content. This makes them perfect for summer parties. Fishermen are currently using large mesh gill nets to catch the Columbia River Kings. These nets have two benefits: 1) Smaller salmon and other at risk species can safely pass through the nets, 2) The King Salmon that are caught are over 20 lbs. This translates to roughly 5-7 lb. fillets on the grill. These can make an impressive presentation at Labor Day get togethers.

Other great Labor Day seafood options include: Halibut, Shrimp, Scallops, and Smoked Salmon. Call your sales representative for pricing options.
