Alaskan Black Cod, AKA Sable Fish, AKA Butter Fish is a true delicacy. It is incredibly rich in flavor, which is where it gets it’s nickname, Butter Fish.

People who have a taste for the high fat content fish like Sea Bass and Copper River or Yukon River King Salmon love Black Cod. Traditionally, Japan consumed most of the Black Cod that was landed. However, now that the American palate has discovered the delicacy, you see it more and more on restaurant menus around the Pacific Northwest. It is typically served skin-on and given it’s rich flavor, it doesn’t need much more than salt and pepper to make a delicious meal.
